But, do you really want it parked far away? This is the golden opportunity car thieves will be looking for. You car should be in very visible, public, and well-lit areas. Would you rather have chipped paint or a mutilated interior and a few thousand in stolen electronics? If you are one of the consumers who keep the spare key in the car, you may not have a car at all when you return. Always keep spare keys in your pocket or purse.

If you do park your car near other people, you should also take precautions and watch your behavior. Do not draw attention to yourself or your car. Some automobile owners literally go ballistic when even children get too near their car. If car thieves are watching, this can have a dramatically negative effect. If you openly and vocally warn others to stay away, they may wonder what's inside that you are so protective of. They may think it's an expensive stereo system. A cache of money. Whatever their assumption, it can make your car look like a veritable goldmine. Car thieves will not usually have children with them and certainly will not be taking a leisurely stroll through a parking lot. They will be moving as quickly as possible and trying not to be seen.

Protecting your automobile should be a primary consideration when you go shopping. It's important to keep your head and avoid suspecting everyone. A car thief will likely be as hidden as possible and either outside the parking lot or in between cars.

You can protect your car with the same common sense you would use to protect yourself. It will be well worth it in the long run. The best automobile insurance is to ensure your aren't a victim of automobile theft or robbery.
